PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyethylene resin for foaming which gives a foam having a good electron-beam cross-linkability, an excellent high-ratio foamability, a low open cell content, a uniform cell size, and an excellent heat resistance; and a foam sheet prepared therefrom. SOLUTION: The polyethylene resin for foaming comprises a high-pressure low-density polyethylene and has a density of 910-930 kg/m3, a melt flow rate (MFR) of 0.5-10.0 g/10 min, a melt viscosity of 100,000 poise or lower, a MFR dependence of melt viscosity of 24,000-96,000, a shear rate dependence of melt viscosity of -0.7 or lower, a mol.wt. distribution of 3-12, and a hexane extraction ratio of 8 wt.% or lower.
