PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video image receiving set which displays a thumbnail index image representing an outline of the content of a record in a record medium to be reproduced by each reproducing means connected to the video image receiving set, when its power source is turned on. SOLUTION: The video image receiving set 1 which is equipped with a television monitor 2 and to which a reproducing means 20 is connected is constituted as follows. When the power source of the receiving set 1 is turned on, a thumbnail index image of the record medium 23 of the reproducing means 20 is read out from the record medium 23, and this record medium thumbnail index image is displayed on the television monitor 2.
