PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for performing liquid phase reaction in a detection instrument for efficiently performing biological reaction such as a microarray or the like while making it hard for air bubbles to be formed in micro-recessed parts without mixing a sample between the mutual micro-recessed parts. SOLUTION: In the detection method using the detection instrument, a detection target is bonded to the inner walls of the recessed parts of the detection instrument having a plurality of the recessed parts formed to the surface thereof so as to preferably allow a specific holding substance to coexist and a reaction solution containing a reactive substance reactive with the detection target is brought into contact with the inner walls, to which the detection target is bonded, of the detection instrument.
