<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery capable of suppressing the rise of internal pressure of a battery by securing high gas absorption property of a negative electrode plate when the battery is in an overcharged condition while maintaining the working efficiency in manufacturing by winding the outermost periphery of an electrode body with a film body. <P>SOLUTION: This secondary battery is constituted so that a plurality of nearly elliptical holes 141 are formed in a main body 140 of the film body 14. Four cut-and-raised parts 142 are formed in an edge part facing the holes 141. In the secondary battery, parts other than cut-and-raised parts 142 of the edge parts of the holes 141 are processed to be flat so that there are no irregularity in a thickness direction of the film body 14.
