PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eye-mount display device of which the extent of projection to the front of an eye can be reduced as much as possible. SOLUTION: An eye-mount display device 11 is provided with an image display device 1 for emitting image display light and an eyepiece optical system, and has a constitution of enabling an observer to visually recognize a virtual image by guiding the image display light to an observer's eye 4 with the eyepiece optical system. The eyepiece optical system is provided with an optical element 2 having a first surface 21 opposed to the image display device 1, a second surface 22 opposed to the observer's eye 4, and a third surface 23 forming a triangle approximately together with the first and second surfaces 21 and 22. The second and third surfaces 22 and 23 are arranged so that image display light impinging from the first surface 21 enters the observer's eye 4 from the second surface 22 after being reflected on each of surfaces 22 and 23 at least twice between the second and third surfaces 22 and 23.
