PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotating machine capable of providing a simple control constitution, size reduction and restraining variance or vibration in a radial direction of a rotor in this axial-type magnetic levitation rotating machine which supports the rotation of the rotor in a non-contact condition by the effect of the magnet. SOLUTION: An upper stator 2 is disposed above the rotor 1, a lower stator 3 is disposed at a lower portion, and a ring-shaped outside permanent magnet 9 is disposed around the rotor. An electromagnet 5 of the upper stator 2 acts with the upper permanent magnet on the upper surface of the rotor to control the position in the axial direction and inclination of the rotor 1. The lower stator 3 acts with the permanent magnet 6 on the lower surface of the rotor to control the rotation of the rotor. The variance or the vibration in the radial direction of the rotor 1 is restrained by a mutual reaction force between the ring-shaped inside permanent magnet 8 provided at the rotor periphery surface and the permanent magnet 9 coaxially disposed with the ring-shaped inside permanent magnet, thus supporting with passive stability in the radial direction.
