PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a deodorizing method exhibiting the effect of 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-3-(4-methylpentanoyl)-2-pyrone for a long period of time. SOLUTION: This deodorizing method is so formed that a part of a porous liquid absorbing core is dipped in deodorizing liquid, the core is made to absorb the deodorizing liquid, and the deodorizing liquid absorbed therein is transpired by heating the non-dipped portion of the core. The deodorizing liquid is so formed that the 4-hydroxy-6-methyl-3-(4-methylpentanoyl)-2-pyrone is included in saturated hydrocarbon solvent of the boiling point of 180-310°C and its content is 0.1-20 wt.% based on the whole amount of the deodorizing liquid.
