<p>1277329 Assembly force fits WAUKESHA BEARINGS CORP 9 Dec 1970 58362/70 Heading B3U [Also in Divisions B7 and F2] A propeller having a hub 12 with a tapered bore is mounted by a force fit on the tapered end 10<SP>1</SP> of the propeller shaft 10 by means of a plate 21 which is bolted by bolts 18 to the end face of the shaft and overlaps part of the hub 12. During assembly, the propeller is forced on to the shaft as far as possible by manual means and bolts 18 are tightened. Pressurized fluid is now forced in one of ducts 34 (the other being blanked off) so that the annular piston 28 draws the propeller and shaft closer together. The plate 21 is reversed for disassembly.</p> |
