A fluid well includes a plurality of seismic sondes (1) located in the well below a surface(S), means (5) in the well for receiving signals from the sondes, a communication link (6) in the well from said receiving means. Signal processing means (8) is coupled with said communication link for processing signals from the receiving means, the processing means being located at or adjacent said surface.
