1278422 Making conveyer buckets and shoots; jointing CARBORUNDUM CO 16 July 1969 [2 Aug 1968] 35725/69 Headings B3A and B3V [Also in Division B8] A non-metallic segment 6 is secured to a metal surface 4 by a metal retainer 8 having a passage 10 through which it is welded at 28 to the surface and having a shoulder engaging a socket 20 in the segment. Ceramic lining segments may be attached to buckets or shoots for conveying corrosive material, such as coke. As shown, the segments are set in adhesive or mastic 26 and have tapered sockets 20 for receiving the retainers 8, which are subsequently covered by plugs 30 secured by adhesive 32. The retainers may extend to the inside surface of segments (34) which are formed with corner sockets (40), Figs. 6 and 7 (not shown), and separated by adhesive (44). A modified retainer, Fig. 8 (not shown), has a tapered core. A segment may be released by drilling through its bore into the weld. |
