PURPOSE: A method for acquiring synchronization in a mobile communication system is provided to reduce time for acquiring synchronization of an upstream link by grouping preambles used for acquiring the upstream link synchronization in transmitting the preambles, thereby reducing time for establishing a call between a terminal and a base station while improving the performance of a mobile communication system. CONSTITUTION: A terminal groups two preambles(P) to be transmitted. The terminal allocates transmission power of the preambles, and transmits the preambles to a base station. The base station acquires upstream link synchronization by receiving the preambles and transmits an AI(Acquisition Indicator). The terminal checks whether the base station transmits the AI. If so, the terminal acquires downstream link and transmits a message(M) to the base station. If not, the terminal checks whether frequency of transmission reaches the maximum frequency of transmission. |
