Intumescent gasket for fire prevention

An intumescent seal (I) comprises at least one ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (A) having a vinyl acetate content of 6-40 wt.%, at least one phosphorous containing flame retardant (B) and exfoliated graphite (C). An independent claim is included for a process for the production of the seal (I) by dosing of the copolymer (A) in to an extruder, melting the copolymer (A), dosing in a mixture of flame retardant (B) and graphite (C) and direct extrusion of the resulting composition through a nozzle.
