[Also in Division G2] The invention comprises compounds of the formula where a and b are both 0 or 1; n is 0 or 1; m is 1 when n is 0 and m is 2 when n is 1; X is a negative ion or an acid radical; R 1 is H, Cl, Br, COOH or alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms; R 3 is a single bond to (CH 2 ) n , when n is 1 or has any of the meanings given for R 1 when n is 0; R 4 is alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms; 2 is a group of the formula at least one of the 2- and 4-positions being a free coupling position, at which the carbon atom is unsubstituted or substituted by a reactive atom or group; R 2 is H, Cl, Br, OH, alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms or amino; R 5 is as R 1 or a group of the formula and Y is OH, amino, or a group of the formula or is H when R 5 is of Formula VIII; or Z is a group or a hydroxy-substituted or unsub-stituted naphthyl group; R is H, alkyl of 1-4 carbon atoms, aralkyl, carboxymethyl, unsubstituted aryl; a group of the formula or another substituted aryl group, or R and Z together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached form a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring which may be unsubstituted or substituted with a Y group or an alkyl or hydroxyalkyl group or be fused to an aromatic ring or be a 2-oxo-1-pyrrolidinyl group. The compounds are prepared by reacting compounds of the formulµ and reducing the nitro group in the product to an amino group. |
