摘要 PURPOSE: A field emission device and a method are provided to prevent a carbon nanotube from being affected by an anode electric field, by forming a gate electrode to be higher than a cathode electrode such that the gate electrode shields electric fields generated by an anode voltage. CONSTITUTION: A field emission device comprises a cathode electrode(42) formed on a glass substrate(41); an insulation layer(43) arranged in the vicinity of the cathode electrode or arranged to include a certain part of the cathode electrode, and formed on a limited region of the device; a gate electrode(44) formed on the insulation layer; and a carbon nanotube(45) formed on an upper or side surface of the cathode electrode.
