PURPOSE: Provided is a steel sheet coating roll which is closely adhered to the surface of an advancing steel sheet and rotates to coat a coating solution, to allow only the necessary region corresponding to the width of a steel sheet to be coated. CONSTITUTION: The steel sheet coating roll comprises a roll central axis(20) which is rotated by a drive motor; a central roll(30) which is fixed at the outer center of the roll central axis; expansion rolls(40) which are installed at both sides of the central roll and comprise a plurality of roll segments to allow the outer circumference to be varied; a sloped groove which is formed at the roll segment and is sloped along the roll central axis; a slider which is mounted on the sloped groove; and a cylinder which is connected with the slider to move the slider along the roll central axis and is rotated together with the roll central axis.
