PURPOSE: A flat type cathode ray tube is provided to reduce deformation of a panel after degassing process, and prevent crack in a bonding surface direction having the maximum stress distribution by minimizing impacts to the panel during explosion proof test. CONSTITUTION: A flat type cathode ray tube comprises a panel(1) having an inner surface on which a screen is formed and an outer surface on which a band(11) is coupled; a funnel mounted at a rear surface of the panel; an electron gun inserted into a neck portion of the funnel so as to emit electron beams toward the screen; and a shadow mask having a plurality of electron beam passing holes, wherein the shadow mask is spaced apart from the inner surface of the panel. The condition Pt*0.06<Bt<Pt*0.07 is satisfied, and the condition Pt*1.1<Bw<Pt*1.2 is satisfied, wherein Pt is the thickness of the panel, Bw is the width of the band coupled to the outer surface of the panel, and Bt is the thickness of the band.
