PURPOSE: A color cathode ray tube is provided to prevent imbalance of current applied to red, green, and blue cathodes and achieve improved white brightness, by reducing the current applied to the red and blue cathodes when the chromaticity of red and blue phosphors is controlled. CONSTITUTION: A color cathode ray tube comprises a panel having an inner surface on which a screen is formed; a funnel mounted at a rear surface of the panel; an electron gun inserted into a neck portion of the funnel so as to emit electron beams toward the screen; a deflection device for displaying images by deflecting electron beams emitted from the electron gun in horizontal and vertical directions; and a shadow mask spaced apart from the screen of the panel. The chromaticity of the red phosphor to be used in formation of the screen on the inner surface of the panel, satisfies the range x=0.665 to 0.671, and y=0.325 to 0.331. The reflectivity of the red phosphor is 30 to 43% in the wavelength of 450nm.
