<p>1286595 Gasifying refuse K K K KROYER 19 April 1971 [5 Feb 1970] 5540/70 Heading C5E A method of destructing refuse, e.g. chlorinecontaining polymers, which on pyrolysing produces acidic gases, comprises pyrolysing the refuse at a temperature between 700‹ and 1200‹ C. in an externally heated furnace from which the gases are recovered as fuel gases, and continuously determining the acidity of the gases, e.g. by measuring the pH of an aqueous solution used for washing them, and introducing into the furnace alkaline reacting products or products forming alkaline reacting compounds on being pyrolized, in amounts which neutralize the acidic reaction of the gases. The added product may be lime or kitchen waste or offal.</p> |
