1286551 Turret indexing mechanism H TOMIYAMA 5 Dec 1969 59505/69 Heading B3B In a machine tool having a tool turret 1 mounted on a saddle 5 a turret indexing mechanism is provided which comprises an hydraulically actuated rack 7a which is operatively connectible with an indexing gear 2 on the turret shaft, and an hydraulically actuated locking rod 13a, which is actuated in sequence with the indexing of the turret and engages recesses 3a in a locking-ring 3 secured to the turret. The rack assembly is pivotally mounted on the saddle 5 and is connected by a lever linkage 16, 17 with the locking rod assembly 13, 13a whereby, when the rack is drivingly engaged with the index ring immediately prior to an indexing stroke the locking rod is disengaged from the locking ring and after the indexing stroke of the rack the locking rod is actuated to engage a recess 3a in the ring 3, the movement of the rod simultaneously pivoting the rack assembly to disengage it from the indexing gear and permit its free return to its starting position. The operation is effected in a predetermined sequence. Although in the embodiment described the rack is shown as acting on the indexing ring by way of an intermediate pinion 6, it is stated that the rack may act directly on the indexing gear ring. |
