1286865 Angular bending C U PEDDING- HAUS 20 Nov 1969 [23 Nov 1968] 56828/69 Heading B3E [Also in Division G3] A bar is bent into predetermined angles and in a desired sequence by controlling the rotation of a platen 1, having a pair of bending tools (2) (3) which coact in use with a fixed tool, with a plurality of electrical control circuits which are actuated by three slipping contacts 19, 20 and 21 mounted on a disc 4 and corresponding to predetermined angles, e.g. 45, 90 and 180 degrees. A drum 23 having a plurality of sets of pairs of contacts 19<SP>1</SP>-19<SP>11</SP>, 20<SP>1</SP>-20<SP>11</SP> and 21<SP>1</SP>-21<SP>11</SP> is drivable in a series of angular steps and each set of contacts has an adjustable slide 26. If for example a bend of 90 degrees is required a slide 26 is moved to its respective contact 20<SP>1</SP> so that one of the control circuits is closed and current is supplied to the contact 2011 via the slipring 20. The connection of contacts 20<SP>1</SP> and 2011 energizes a relay 27 which actuates a motor 28 to rotate the platen 1 and disc 4. When the disc has rotated through 90 degrees the connection between contacts 20<SP>1</SP> and 20<SP>11</SP> is broken and the motor 28 is therefore stopped. Each slide is manually preset so that movement of the drum by one step after completion of each bend will produce a predetermined bending sequence. A reversible switch 29 is incorporated in the circuit to allow the platen to be rotated in either direction.
