1286450 Reactors SIEMENS AG 27 Aug 1970 [29 Aug 1969] 41397/70 Heading G6C In a water cooled nuclear reactor defective fuel element detector, the reactor coolant is monitored by a Ge(Li) detector. The gamma spectrum of the short-lived ferrus product isotopes of the elements Br, Kr, Rb, I, Xe and C 5 is detected in the coolant leaving the reactor coolant channels prior to its entry into a heat exchanger. The detector is so positioned downstream from the reactor, with respect to coolant flow, such that radiation from 16N formed in the coolant, will have decayed completely and the detector position.
