PURPOSE: A mobile communication terminal capable of inputting a character by using a voice recognition function and a method thereof are provided to recognize a voice to retrieve character information corresponding to the recognized voice, and to recognize that the character information is inputted, thereby more easily inputting characters without pressing keys. CONSTITUTION: A voice processor(150) modulates a voice signal inputted outside, and converts into voice data. A voice recognizer(160) recognizes a voice by using the voice data, and outputs voice information. A voice information management DB(135) comprises a table for storing character information by corresponding to the voice information. A controller(100) recognizes the voice through the voice recognizer(160) when the voice signal is inputted, retrieves the character information corresponding to the recognized voice information, recognizes that the character information is inputted, and controls an inputted state of the character information to be displayed. A display(110) displays the inputted state.
