A wall or ceiling lining comprises alternately arranged longitudinal strips 1 and 7 of metal or plastics, supported on U-sectioned supports 4 with castellated flanges. The intermediate strips 7 have a central flat portion 8 level with, or slightly below the main portions 3 cf the strips 1, and curled edge flanges 11 which butt up against projections 12 on the castellations 6 of the supports. The central portions 8 are a forced fit between the adjacent flanges 2 of the strips 1, and the strips 7 can only be inserted longitudinally into the recesses 5 between the castellations 6.
