The dispensing unit has an actuating rod (7) axially moving to-and-fro in a body. A neck joint (2) is disposed in contact with a lower face (51) of a peripheral flange (52) such that it is compressed between the flange and an edge of an opening of a container. An axial height (HS1) separating the lower face from an upper end of the rod is equal to an axial height (H11) separating the lower face from a lower end of the body. An independent claim is also included for a fluid product dispenser.
