The manually-operated toothbrush has a head that can be rotated to set it at 90 degrees to the handle (21). The head has a lengthwise slot to receive the end of the handle, and a pivot (22) on which the head rotates, while a slider (23) and spring (26) provide a slight braking effect. Variants of the design have the head connected to the handle by an intermediate strip with a pivot and washer, or made to be replaceable.
