The device has a plate (1) to receive an apparatus e.g. television, and a chassis (3) with chains (61-64) coupled to respective wheels (41-44). The chains have an end (61A-64A) coupled to the plate and another end (61B-64B) coupled to counterweights (71, 72) by forward and return strands (610,620 and 621,631). Two synchronization links (81, 82) passing on return pulleys (91-94) connect the forward strands to the return strands respectively. The plate moves the apparatus between utilization and retracted positions.
