PURPOSE: A safety iron is provided to prevent clothes from being damaged by carelessness if the iron is put on the clothes or set up for the constant time and to reduce unnecessary power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A safety iron is composed of a grip unit, a power switch, and a control unit(5) mounted at an upper housing; a switching device(6) coupled with the control unit for supplying control power to a heater(3); a heating plate installed under the heater; an optical movement detecting sensor(8) disposed at the lower side of the heating plate to sense front, rear, left, and right movements of the iron; and a movement distinguishing unit(9) embedding a digital signal processing device for deciding if the output of the movement detecting sensor is changed for the constant time. The control unit is linked with a temperature control variable resistance. |
