PURPOSE: Provided is a rubber composition for tire tread, which comprises starch modified with at least one coupling agent to improve rotational resistance and wear characteristics, processability, dispersibility and braking performance on wet roads. CONSTITUTION: The rubber composition for tire tread comprises a base rubber, silica, modified starch and additives, wherein the modified starch is starch modified with at least one coupling agent selected from the group consisting of silane coupling agents, tertiary amines and trialkyl phosphate compounds, and is used in an amount of 5-30 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the base rubber. The base rubber preferably comprises 30-100 wt% of styrene-butadiene rubber having a glass transition temperature of between -50 and -10 deg.C based on the total weight of base rubber.
