PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head capping mechanism which maintains the sealed state of a nozzle of a function droplet discharge head properly and stably to enable stable and effective maintenance of the discharge head, and a droplet discharge apparatus with the head capping mechanism. SOLUTION: According to the head capping mechanism, a cap 520 is closely stuck to the nozzle surface 202 of the function droplet discharge head 11 to seal up nozzles 201 formed on the nozzle surface 202. The cap 520 is held by a cap holder 530 which is provided with cap magnets 537, whose attractive force sticks the cap 520 closely to the nozzle surface 202. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
