PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus equipped with a fixing device that restricts a temperature increase in a paper non-passage area in correspondence with the various restrictions of an induction heat type fixing device and ensures steady high quality fixing. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with the induction heat fixing device. The induction heat fixing device has a plurality of induction coils for supplying a magnetic flux to a rotor heating member that generates heat with an induction current and a pressure member that is in press contact with the rotor heating member via a transfer member. In the induction heat fixing device, the induction coils has at least two or more levels in resonance frequency, an output frequency can be altered, the output frequency is set to the resonance frequency of each induction coil, and a frequency output pattern can be altered according to an image forming operation mode. When the induction heat fixing device is set to a predetermined output frequency, heat generation distribution on the rotor heating member has a projecting shape.
