PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging unit in which a user easily recognizes the state of an image recorded on a recording medium. SOLUTION: The imaging unit is provide with: an imaging means; a recording means for recording image data obtained by the imaging means onto a recording medium; and a control means for generating typical data representing the image data recorded on the recording medium in response to the recording of the image data of a prescribed amount onto the recording medium and controlling the recording means to record the typical data onto the recording medium.
