PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable image data to be fetched by a two-dimensional device when reading original image and correct skewing of the image data they are sent to an image forming process. SOLUTION: An image reading apparatus includes two-dimensional photoelectric conversion means, light emitting means for illuminating an original, image data storage means for storing image data from the two-dimensional photoelectric conversion means, original image frame decision means for deciding an original image frame predetermined two or more image frame decision main scanning points in a main scanning direction, an image frame decision sub-scanning point for calculating the position of a sub-scanning direction in response to the main scanning direction, sub-scanning distance calculating means, main scanning reading interval calculating means, image region setting means, and image data storage means. Thus, the image region set by the image region setting means is sequentially read with respect to the sub-scanning direction, and the image data corrected for a skewing movement are stored.
