PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detector that efficiently and optically determines presence/absence of an object in a scan region. SOLUTION: The detector includes a paper feed path, a reference pattern (34) facing the feed path, and an optical sensor (28) configured to view the reference pattern (34) through the feed path.
