PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fingerprint input device which is activated by an operation of a switch detecting that a finger is put on a sensor device, reduces electric power consumption, reduces the number of components, and simplifies the structure. SOLUTION: The fingerprint input device is provided with a sensor device 1 to read fingerprints and a switch 3 to detect that the finger is put on the sensor device 1, and is activated by the operation of the switch 3. The switch 3 is a push-button type, and the sensor device 1 and the switch 3 are fixed on a case 4, besides the switch 3 is disposed on an opposite face to a face of the sensor device 1 sandwiching the case 4. It is also possible that the switch 3 is a pressure-sensitive type instead of the push-button type, and that a means, which informs a user whether the press-down pressure is appropriate or not, is prepared.
