PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correct a retrieval condition by using a semantic system or classification system and geographical knowledge or the like, and to present a proper retrieval result, and to simplify the retrieval of information associated with the retrieval result. SOLUTION: This information retrieval method comprises a step for extracting a retrieval condition constituted of inter-keyword relations from inputted questions in a natural language format, a step (201) for acquiring a document on the Internet corresponding to each keyword included in the retrieval condition, and for acquiring retrieval results with a tree structure by linking the document based on the inter-keyword relations, and steps (202, 203) for deciding whether the number of retrieval results corresponding to the respective keywords is zero or more than a set threshold, and a step (204) for extending the limited extent of the retrieval condition by abstracting the keywords according to a semantic system to which the keywords are belonging when the number of retrieval results is zero and a step (205) for presenting more detailed keywords according to the semantic system to which the keywords are belonging when the number of retrieval results is more than the threshold, and for urging a user to select the keywords from them.
