<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which nonuniform rotational speed of a photoreceptor is restrained without adding machine elements and, therefore, nonuniform density of an image is reduced. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus of a digital system repeatedly scans a laser beam modulated in accordance with image data in the axial direction of the photoreceptor 5, thereby forms an electrostatic latent image, and develops it.
