METHOD FOR PRODUCING HEXAHYDROFUROFURANOL DERIVATIVE AND INTERMEDIATE THEREFOR AND METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a compound useful as an medicinal intermediate and having a relative configuration represented by formula VIII on an industrial scale at a low cost without using ozone oxidation or a strongly toxic regent and intermediates used for the method and especially a method for producing a compound having an absolute configuration represented by formula VIII and its enantiomer without using a technique such as optical resolution and to provide the intermediates used for the method.

SOLUTION: The method for producing the compound having the relative configuration represented by formula VIII is carried out as follows. A compound I is used as a starting raw material and stereoselectively reduced and thereby led to a compound having the relative configuration represented by formula II. A protective group is further introduced and the resultant compound is subjected to reduction and cyclization to afford a compound having the relative configuration represented by formula V. The hydroxyl group is then inverted.
