PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable natural image processing of a color image of an object such as a face. SOLUTION: A color image processor extracts a color region as taking the color of an object as a set of a plurality of colors. In a color space, a two-dimensional object color probability distribution is defined in a plane including boundary luminance values where an increase in luminance adds a specular reflection component to a diffuse reflection component in the color distribution of an object. A three-dimensional object color probability distribution model is found accordingly. A color region is extracted accordingly from a color image.
