<p>A method for cross-linking or vulcanising extruded objects of natural or synthetic rubber, pref. continuously extruded thread, is used esp. for materials which undergo expansion, e.g. foaming materials, when cross linked or vulcanised. The objects are cross-linked or vulcanised by passing them down through a falling zone subjected to UHF energy. The prefd. appts. comprises an extruder feeding the material first through a heating zone to harden its skin, then through a vertical UHF treatment zone followed by expansion lop and finally through a horizontal cooling zone. Themethod permits complete freedom of expansion of the material during treatment.</p> |
