A method for determining the actual braking characteristic of braking appliances of a motor vehicle in which discrete braking characteristics are ascertained depending on input data. Initially, at least two families of characteristics are generated from the discrete braking characteristics, and the actual braking characteristics are calculated, by interpolation, from the families of characteristics. Independent claims are included for (a) braking control for carrying out the method, for (b) a motor vehicle equipped with the braking control and for (c) a motor vehicle trailer or second car equipped with the braking control.
