<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote control system in which a user can operate the software by any kind of remote controllers. <P>SOLUTION: A receiving apparatus 20 receives an infrared signal IR transmitted from a remote controller 30, and analyzes a remote control code RC. The analyzed remote control code RC is transmitted to a computer 10. The computer 10 registers in a registration table the remote control code RC corresponding to the operation of software selected by the user.
