PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor laser driving device which causes no deterioration due to over-emission of a semiconductor laser at the time of detecting emission current of the semiconductor laser, causes no variation in quantity of light due to variation of temperature, controls a bias current at an appropriate level which well maintains droop characteristics but causes no surface staining, and reduces time delay before laser emission; and also to provide an image forming device. SOLUTION: The bias current ish outputted from a voltage-current conversion circuit 15 is produced and outputted so that a sum of the bias current ish and a second auxiliary current isub2 from a second auxiliary current producing circuit 20 is less than the oscillation threshold current ith of a laser diode LD, and that light emission quantity of the laser diode LD resulting from a sum current of the bias current ish, a light emission current iηfrom a light emission current producing circuit 18, a first auxiliary current isub1 and the second auxiliary current isub2, falls on a predetermined value.
