PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a secondary battery in which capacity is increased by improving a structure of members with which a negative electrode plate in an electrode assembly is electrically connected to a can. SOLUTION: This is the secondary battery including the electrode assembly 10 in which the negative electrode plate 12 and the positive electrode plate 14 are arranged via a separator 13, the can 20 in which the electrode assembly body 10 is housed, a cap assembly 30 which seals the can 20 and to which the positive electrode body is electrically connected, and a pin 50 which is inserted into the electrode assembly 10 and electrically connects the negative electrode plate 12 and the can 20. Because this has the structure in which a negative electrode tab is not installed on the outer face of the electrode assembly 10, it becomes possible to form the external form of the electrode assembly 10 corresponding to the internal diameter of the can 20 while maximizing the efficiency, so it is possible to enlarge the capacity to the maximum extent against the size of the can 20.
