PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed battery, having an explosion-proof mechanism at a low cost and high reliability. SOLUTION: A sealed cylinder type lithium ion secondary battery includes the bunch of electrode windings housed at the center of a battery can, and the top cover thereof is arranged on the upper part of the bunch of electrode windings. The top cover has a dish-like diaphragm 2; a flat doughnut-shaped splitter 4 along the diaphragm 2 is held with the flat surface at the center of the diaphragm 2 and the flat surface at the center of a connection plate 6; a joint 7 is formed, by electrically and mechanically friction-stirring welding from the side of the connection plate 6.
