An electromagnetic switching device (1) allowing rapid arc-extinguishing and reduction in size, cost, and operating noise, comprising an electromagnet device (2) having a movable core (22), a pair of fixed terminals (3) having fixed contact points (32), a movable contact shoe (4) having movable contact points (41) at the right and left ends thereof, a shaft (5), and an enclosing member (6) storing the movable contact points (41) and the fixed contact points (32). The pair of movable contact points (41) are moved close to and apart from the pair of fixed contact points (32) through the shaft (5) by moving forward and backward the movable core (22) by the electromagnet device (2) along the axis thereof to conduct or insulate the pair of fixed contact points (32) to or from each other. A generally enclosed space (63) forming an arc-extinguishing space is formed by the enclosing member (6) and a first yoke (23). A potting material (12a) is filled in clearances between a device body (11) and the generally enclosed space (63).
