<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device which is excellent in moisture proof characteristic, light resistance characteristic and can obtain easily uniform wavelength conversion characteristic without lowering external radiation efficiency based on the light emission of an LED (light emitting diode) element. <P>SOLUTION: A fluorescent material layer 2A formed like a thin film on a glass sheet 201 is sandwiched with a glass sheet 202, and is thermally fused to form a wavelength converting unit 2. Consequently, the shape and the thickness of the fluorescent material layer 2A can be controlled easily with higher accuracy, and amount of use of the fluorescent material can be controlled accurately. Moreover, since the fluorescent material can be used effectively when the expensive fluorescent material is used, cost reduction of the light emitting device 1 can be realized. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
