PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable photosensitive material excellent in coating performance and having good conveyability in a heat developing machine and to provide an image forming method. SOLUTION: The heat developable photosensitive material has an image forming layer containing at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent and a binder on at least one face of a support and has at least one back layer and a back face protection layer on a face of the support opposite to the face with the image forming layer, wherein a binder in the back face protection layer contains a water-soluble polymer and a latex polymer having a glass transition temperature of -30 to +40°C.
