PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a heat roll type fixing device mounted on an image forming apparatus simple in structure, small in size, low in cost, short in warming-up time and suppressive in the deformation of an ejected sheet material. SOLUTION: In the fixing device provided with a thermal fixing roll 1, a pressure roll 2 for pressing the thermal fixing roll 1, a heat-resistant belt 3 wound around the outer periphery of the pressure roll 2 and moving while being held between the roll 2 and the thermal fixing roll 1, and a belt stretching member 4 for stretching the heat-resistant belt 3, and for fixing an unfixed toner image formed on the sheet material, and as for the image forming apparatus loaded with the fixing device, the belt stretching member 4 is provided with an end part position control projecting wall 4a for controlling the position of the end part of the sliding heat-resistant belt at one end or both ends of the member 4, and also, the standing angle of the end part position control projecting wall 4a is made larger than the angle of the end part of the heat-resistant belt 3, and a tension is applied on the heat-resistant belt 3 between the the member 4 and the pressure roll 2 so as to stretch the heat-resistant belt 3, and the heat-resistant belt 3 is wound on the thermal fixing roll 1 so as to form a fixation nip.
