PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently forming a titanium oxide coating film layer on an object portion of an automobile so as to prevent deterioration of the color tone of a metallic coating layer. SOLUTION: This coating film layer formation method involves forming a clear coating film layer 2 on a metallic coating film layer 3 formed on an object portion of an automobile and then forming a titanium oxide coating film layer 1 on the clear coating film layer 2 by spraying a coating film liquid 10 containing silver oxide, titanium oxide, and ethanol at 1-2 kgf/cm<SP>2</SP>spraying pressure and 50-70 cm distance D by using a spraying apparatus 5 using air from which static electricity is removed by a static electricity removal apparatus 6.
