PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner the usability of which is high by detecting connected conditions of a suction head and altering electric power supply conditions to the suction head according to its output. SOLUTION: The vacuum cleaner includes the suction head 40 having a rotating brush which rakes out dust on a cleaned surface and a driving means 41 which drives the rotating brush, a cleaner body 10 containing an electric blower 13 which emits suction air, connection sections (20, 30) which connect the suction head 40 and the cleaner body 10, and detection means (21, 31) which detect connected conditions of the suction head 40 to the connection sections (20, 30), and electric power and /or an electric power supply mode provided to the driving means 41 are altered according to the output of the detection means (21, 31).
